Site Selection, ImagiNE, and Latest News in Economic Development

March 18, 2020
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

3125 S 72nd Street
Omaha, NE 68124

Mark Norman, Senior Director, Client Services Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership - Mark Norman has been working in the world of economic development for 25 years and for the last 10 years has served in multiple roles for the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership – the 7-county region representing the metro, a division of the Greater Omaha Chamber. Currently, Mark is the Senior Director for Client services, which is responsible for marketing to and responding to “new-to-market” business prospects who are considering a business location in the region. Working with existing businesses within the Partnership area is also a key activity, ensuring that those businesses have the ability to grow and expand locally. Mark and his team also work on site development for the Partnership to ensure available sites for businesses to construct new facilities, striving to achieve the Partnership’s goal of multiple shovel-ready industrial parks in the region. Mark worked with the statewide coalition in drafting the Imagine Nebraska bill (LB720) which would serve as the proposed replacement for the Nebraska Advantage program set to expire at the end of 2020.

Mark will discuss the intricacies of the Site Selection process that companies go through when identifying where they want to grow and expand their business. Those items range from real estate solutions, workforce availability, operating costs and of course, business incentives. With the current Nebraska incentive program scheduled to expire at the end of 2020 and its replacement, the ImagiNE Nebraska program currently being debated in the legislature, Mark will discuss the importance of the new program and its improvements over the current Nebraska Advantage Act. Mark will also discuss how economic development has changed over the years and how the Greater Omaha Chamber has responded to those changing needs.
